Leak tracing
Attic-first diagnosis so we repair the cause, not the symptom.
Find the actual leak. Fix the actual cause. Not a bucket of tar.
Most roof leaks on Long Island are not holes in the shingles — they're failed flashing around chimneys, skylights, walls and pipe boots, or ice-dam backup at the eaves. LaRocco Roofing & Siding traces the water to its actual entry point, repairs the cause and documents it with photos. We repair roofs throughout Nassau County, Suffolk County and Queens, and we'll tell you honestly when a repair is the wrong call.
Water is a liar. It enters at one point, runs along a rafter, and drips through your ceiling fifteen feet away. That is why so many repairs fail — someone patched the ceiling stain instead of finding where the water actually got in.
We start in the attic with a light, work back to the entry point, then get on the roof and look at the thing that's really failing. Usually it's metal, not shingle: step flashing that was caulked instead of replaced, a chimney counter-flashing that pulled out of the mortar, a pipe boot whose rubber collar finally cracked in the sun.

Attic-first diagnosis so we repair the cause, not the symptom.
Step, chimney, sidewall, skylight and valley flashing done in metal, not sealant.
Blown-off, cracked and wind-lifted shingles replaced and color-matched as closely as possible.
The single most common leak we find, and one of the cheapest to fix properly.
Documented with photos for your insurance claim before we touch anything.
Repairs at the eaves, plus the ventilation fix that stops it happening again.
Temporary protection to stop the damage while a permanent repair is scheduled.
Re-flashed and resealed, or replaced when the unit itself has failed.
If two or more of these sound like your house, book the free inspection. It costs nothing and it settles the question.
The same five steps on every job, whether it's a cracked pipe boot or a full tear-off.
We walk the roof, check the attic and photograph what we find. You see the same pictures we do — including the parts of your roof you can't get to.
One clear number, broken down by material and labor. No pressure, no vanishing discount that expires tonight, no surprise change orders halfway through.
We pull the town permits, order the material and give you a firm start date and a realistic finish date for the weather we're working in.
Property gets tarped and protected before a single shingle comes off. Most residential roofs are torn off and re-roofed in one to two days.
Magnet sweep for nails, debris hauled away, then we walk it with you before we ask for final payment and hand over your warranty paperwork.
Real roofs, real addresses. Every one started with a free inspection.

Smithtown, NY

Active leaks get priority. Call (516) 924-2050 and we'll get out to look as quickly as we can — often same or next day. If it's pouring and the ceiling is coming down, we can tarp the roof to stop the damage and come back to do the permanent repair properly.
Sometimes. A ten-year-old roof with one failed pipe boot is absolutely worth repairing. A twenty-two-year-old roof with curling shingles and its third leak this year is not — you'd be spending real money to postpone the inevitable by a season. We'll show you photos and tell you which one you have.
Because they fixed where the water appeared instead of where it entered. Water travels along rafters and sheathing before it drips. We diagnose from the attic first so we're repairing the actual entry point.
Yes. We photograph and document the damage, provide an itemized scope, and meet your adjuster on the roof so the two assessments are actually about the same thing. Sudden storm damage is usually covered; ordinary age and wear is not.
Yes, and often that's exactly the right answer. The honest caveat: new shingles rarely match twenty-year-old sun-faded ones perfectly, so a repaired section may be visible from the street. We'll show you where and let you decide.
No charge, no obligation, no high-pressure pitch. We look at the roof, send you the photos and tell you what it actually needs.
